The idea of making ceramic sculptures on different universes has been on my mind for a long time. The first thing that came to my mind on this theme was that each universe or each different world have their own unique patterns.

First, I tried different textures and most of them were in slicer software for 3d printing. But then I started creating some patterns myself. All these patterns represented a different world and time. I thought of house forms as the form to carry all this rhythmic structure. Because the smallest and biggest things we can live in: our houses and our universes. Using the smoke forms in the chimneys of some houses, I hoped that there was life there. And human silhouettes… I used them for some of my previous ceramic works in mono color, but now I made them colorful. This colorfulness emerged as a reflection of diversity, as the experience of my days in the United States. And all those symbols, silhouettes, houses or universes seems like a road in time, a pretty road we go and then back again.
The ceramic tiles which are the second part of this exhibition, emerged as a part of a post-doctoral project of The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey that I name 3d Mishima and 3d Sgraffito. I designed all the patterns on the ceramic tiles with computer control machine and in these patterns, you will find the traces of different Anatolian civilizations such as Çatalhöyük, Troy, Hittite, Seljuk and Ottoman at different time intervals.
