Slic3r is the recommended third party software to prepare gcode files to feed our printers.
You can download the latest (dev) version online at slic3r.org/download
Slic3r is the tool you need to convert a digital 3D model into printing instructions for your 3D Clay printer. It cuts the model into horizontal slices (layers), generates toolpaths to fill them and calculates the amount of material to be extruded. You can read more about slic3r on the slic3r.org homepage.
Slic3r is a free software, developed by Alessandro Ranellucci with the help of contributors and community. Slic3r is licensed under the GNU Afferdo General Public License, version 3. The Slic3r icon was designed by Corey Daniels.
Our printers read files in gcode format. We expect you to understand the basics of this format and be able to operate 3D CAD software and have basic knowledge about slicing 3D files in STL format to gcode format for 3D printing.
We provide basic settings in an .ini file for Slic3r. This file can be found on the SD card and is called: LUTUM-3mm-4.1-2018.ini (or something similar).
This .ini file needs to be imported into your copy of Slic3r to set all of the printer’s specific settings.
